The building of the early '900, is located in the heart of Codacchio, historic center of Torremaggiore and is inserted in a predominantly residential context with strong historical and cultural value.
On a plot of 115 square meters, spread over 3 levels above ground.
Given the structural problems that affected the structural safety and the impossibility of demolition of the building located in zone A, the design choice was directed by:
1. Emptying of the internal part of the building by demolishing the structural elements such as slabs, connecting staircase and roofing roof in addition to all the walls of internal partition remaining standing only the perimeter walls of the building;
2. Construction of a new structure in c.a. consisting of pillars, beams and floors leaning against and connected to the existing perimeter walls that after being consolidated, have assumed a value of "infill";
3. Redefinition of the openings on the two façades with historical respect for the context through a geometric redistribution of the elements present
such as the repositioning and resizing of the door and window compartments in such a way as to eliminate the improprieties resulting from the alternation of uneven rooms in respect of the original architectural language.
The new openings will be, by architectural choice, in a modern way, in order to differentiate them from the existing ones.
4. A more rational modelling of the spaces by placing the access staircase in a more central position than the original one and adjacent to it a lift compartment, so as to improve accessibility to all floors and to every environment.
